Photo Composition

1.Emphasis- Elements in a piece that are given dominance or attract attention.

The background in this image and the angle of the photo attracts attention to the flower which gives it an emphasis.

2. Horizontal lines- lines that run east and west ( rest, calmness, tranquility)

This image has lines going east and west representing Horizontal Line

3. Repetition and Pattern- The repeated consistency of element in a art work.

My picture has repetition with all the feathers and pattern with the stripes.

4. Bird's  Eye View- View from above looking down.

This photo is a view looking down.

5.  Vertical lines- Lines that run north & south.

This image has lines running north and south, creating the theme "vertical lines".

6.Texture- The appearance and feel of surface.

This image is a close up making the viewer feeling like they can feel the texture.

7.Symmetrical Balance- One side balances or mirrors the other(separated by a vertical line)

This image is basically the same on both sides creating a "mirror" type of feeling.

8. Unity- All elements of a piece of work together to produce a balanced, harmonious, complete whole.

This image all comes together to balance the photo out and make it flow.

9. Rule of thirds- Compositional rule of thumb where the whole image is divided into 9 equals; compositional elements should be placed along these lines or intersections.

This image is place in along the lines and everything else is divided into thirds.

10. Diagonal Lines- lines that run in a slanted direction.

This image represents diagonal lines because the way the lines are represented it shows movement.

11.  Variety- Differences in elements & principles of design that give interest to a composition.

This image shows variety because of the different type of grains, but it all fits together.

12. Simplicity- Singling out an item(s) from their surroundings.

This image shows simplicity because its a tree being taken out of its surrounding and just being put there by itself.

13. Asymmetrical BalanceDifferent objects balanced each other out on the page.

This image is asymmetrical because trough out the picture everything balances each other out.

14. Movement/ Rhythm- Shows action & the path of the viewer's eye through the artwork.

This image shows movement because it of the dancers action through out her movements.

15. Leading lines- Lines that lead the eye to other point in the image ( or out of the image)

This image shows leading lines because the lines in the tunnel lead to the people which the photo is trying to focus on.

16.Proportion/Scale- The relative size of one object relation to another.

This image shows proportion because the cigarette is overly huge compare to the humans.

17. Horizon line- Used to emphasize the sky or ground based on the placement of horizontal line where the ground meets the sky.

This image shows "horizon line" because it clearly shows where the ground meets the sky.

18. Framing- Directs viewer's attention to what is important using objects or elements existing in the scene.

This image shows "framing" because there's some type of frame when capturing the photo of the city.

19. Worm's Eye View- View from below looking up.

This image is worm's eye view because is a shot of a photo looking up.

20. Curved lines- Lines that deviate from straightness in a smooth, continuous fashion.

Cover Page

My photo is good because it focuses on the middle (dark) and from there on color comes into it. I vaule my dog in this photo, he is my world i dont know what i would do with out him. This photo inspire my theme  becauase chico is crazy so my theme is crazy there isn't really a pattern to it. Chico runs away so the moon represents him, because is always turning around in a different location and chico is never in the same spot.  I used unity and variety, contrast, proportion/ scale and balance to create my theme an make it how it looks.
